Safe ride home shuttle system begins Feb. 15

Campus2Home offers transportation from Danforth Campus to front door for three off-campus neighborhoods

A new transportation service, Campus2Home, will begin offering Washington University students, faculty and staff shuttle service home from the Danforth Campus Monday, Feb. 15.

The Campus2Home shuttle will provide a safe ride home for those living in three designated areas off campus — Skinker-DeBaliviere, Loop South, and North of The Loop — from 7 p.m.-2:30 a.m. seven days a week.

The shuttle leaves from both the Mallinckrodt Center and the Brooking Drive steps and takes passengers directly to the front doors of their buildings. Shuttle drivers then will wait and watch to make sure passengers get into their buildings safely.

“We are pleased to begin offering this service on a trial basis to help ensure the safety of members of our community,” said Steven P. Hoffner, associate vice chancellor for operations.

“Ultimately, the success of this program will depend on how many people take advantage of it,” Hoffner said. “I encourage students, faculty and staff living in these neighborhoods to use this service, and all university community members living off campus to visit police.wustl.edu for tips for staying safe in and outside their home.”

The shuttle will leave Mallinckrodt every 30 minutes, at the top and bottom of every hour during operating hours, and stop next at the Brookings Drive steps.

Service will be one-way from campus to homes.

Students, faculty and staff wishing to use the shuttles — 10-passenger vans marked with the Campus2Home logo — will be required to show their Washington University IDs or contractor affiliate work IDs.
