New program seeks to fund collaborative, innovative research

Applications are being accepted for new internal grant award program that provides seed funding for new interdisciplinary collaborative research projects.

The program, called the University Research Strategic Alliance (URSA), will provide up to six awards this year of up to $25,000 each, or up to $150,000 total. Administered by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, the program is seeking proposals that include a new collaboration between faculty investigators from different disciplines working together in a new area of research or approaching a problem in an innovative way. The goal is to promote new collaborations that build on different scientific and academic backgrounds to foster solving research questions collaboratively, as well as prompting new research that is competitive for external funding.

Faculty from all departments and schools are invited to submit proposals focusing on new collaborative, innovative research.

Guidelines include:

  • A novel and collaborate investigative team
  • A novel and collaborative scope
  • Innovation
  • Sustainability

Letters of intent are due Friday, July 1. Full proposals are due Sept. 2.
