Health open enrollment Nov. 1-30

Employees can enroll, make changes through HRMS

The annual health open enrollment period for the health/dental or dental-only plans, the health- and child-care flex spending plans, the Health Savings Account (HSA) and the Retirement Medical Savings Account (RMSA) will be from Nov. 1-30.

Enrollments and changes to these plans made during the open enrollment period and before the Nov. 30 deadline will be effective Jan. 1, 2012, for calendar year 2012.

During open enrollment, employees will be able to make changes and enroll through HRMS. Paper forms will still be available for those without access to a computer or without a WUSTL KEY. Employees must finalize their online enrollment or send in their enrollment paperwork before the Nov. 30 deadline for enrollments and changes to take effect for 2012.

During open enrollment, action is required to:

  • Enroll or change health/dental or dental-only plans;
  • Verify all dependents enrolled in health/dental or dental-only plans;
  • Enroll or continue HSA;
  • Enroll or continue a health flex-spending plan;
  • Enroll or continue a child-care flex-spending plan; and
  • Enroll or change an RMSA.

This is the only time during the year that employees may enroll in the flex-spending plans, HSA and RMSA and may change health plans and/or coverage without a qualifying family status change.

No action is required to continue current health/dental or dental-only plans or to continue current contribution to the RMSA.

Dependents must be verified by employees to remain covered by health/dental or dental-only insurance for 2012.

To familiarize employees with HRMS enrollment and change process and to help employees make the best decisions for themselves and their families, the Office of Human Resources will hold 13 one-hour informational meetings for employees from Nov. 1-17 in locations on all four campuses and two West County sites.

Along with benefits information, these meetings will include a demonstration on how enrollments and changes can be made through HRMS.

“Employees attending these meetings will have the opportunity to ask questions and to receive further explanation from members of the Human Resources team about the benefits information included in the Health Open Enrollment brochure,” says Margo Jarrell, assistant vice chancellor for human resources.

Meeting schedules will be included in the open enrollment brochure that will be sent to campus boxes by the end of October. The schedules also can be found (as of Nov. 1) at hr.wustl.edu or medschoolhr.wustl.edu.
