Health Happening wellness fair Feb. 14

There’s more than one way to make sure your ticker gets some love this Valentine’s Day. Plan a visit to the annual Health Happening Fair from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, in the Eric P. Newman Education Center for free health screenings and information on a wide variety of health topics.

Washington University physicians will be available to answer questions about a range of topics, including cardiology, dermatology, weight loss surgery, orthopedics, pain management, radiology, varicose veins, colonoscopies, internal medicine, diabetes, physical therapy and ear, nose and throat issues.

School of Medicine faculty and staff who attend the fair may get screenings for blood pressure, blood glucose, lung function and body mass index. Students from the Program in Physical Therapy will show participants proper walking techniques and provide other assessments.

More than 45 vendors will be on hand to provide information on smoking cessation, fitness centers and even how to improve your golf swing. The fair also will offer some prizes and free food samples, and Schnucks Markets will have a mini farmers’ market at the event, with fresh fruits and vegetables available for purchase.

Representatives from the university’s health and dental insurance plans and from LifeScope, which operates the Employee Assistance Program, also will be available.
