Moraña wins Modern Language Association prize

Mabel Moraña, PhD, the William H. Gass Professor in Arts & Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, has won the Katherine Singer Kovacs Prize from the Modern Language Association of America (MLA).

The prize is for an outstanding book published in English or Spanish in the field of Latin American and Spanish literatures and cultures. The prize, which was awarded at the MLA’s annual convention this month, recognizes Moraña’s book, “Arguedas/Vargas Llosa: Dilemas y Ensamblajes,” published by Iberoamericana/Vervuert.

Moraña also is director of the Latin American Studies program in Arts & Sciences.
