Brown doctoral student Halvorsen receives three honors

Halvorsen

Cal Halvorsen, a doctoral student at the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, recently received three honors for his work.

He was named a 2015 pre-disseration awardee by the Association for Gerontology Education in Social Work. This national program, for second-year social work doctoral students who study aging-related issues, provides support for the dissertation process and preparation for an academic career in gerontological social work research and education.

He was invited to attend the Innovation in Social Work Roundtable at Bainbridge Island, Wash. The meeting included faculty and doctoral students from seven schools of social work and interactive discussions on how to spur innovation in the field. In addition, Halvorsen received a research fellowship from Encore.org, recognizing his research on entrepreneurship in later life.
