Dissemination and Implementation Speaker Series begins Sept. 30

The Center for Dissemination and Implementation at the Institute for Public Health at Washington University in St. Louis kicks off its 2015-16 speaker series Wednesday, Sept. 30, with a talk from Ross A. Hammond, PhD, on policy factors that influence health.

Hammond, senior fellow in economic studies at the Brookings Institution and director of its Center on Social Dynamics & Policy, will present “Social Dynamics & Policy Influencing Health” from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. in the Taylor Avenue Building on the School of Medicine campus.

Hammond is the keynote for a half-day symposium that will include faculty presentations, a panel discussion and breakout sessions.

The symposium is co-sponsored by the Siteman Cancer Center.

The Center for Dissemination and Implementation seeks to ensure that the most effective services are delivered in health and public health settings. Dissemination and implementation research is the scientific study of methods to promote the uptake of proven clinical treatments, programs and policies into routine use in new settings.

  • Greg Aarons, PhD, of the University of California San Diego, will present “Facilitating Leadership and Organizational Change for Implementation” Nov. 4.
  • David Meltzer, PhD, of the University of Chicago, will present “Value of Information Analysis in Implementation Research” Dec. 2.
  • Wolfgang Munar, MD, associate director for the Global Health Center at the Institute for Public Health; and Rajiv Rimal, PhD, of George Washington University, will present “Introducing a Novel Approach to Measuring the Adoption of Modern Contraception in Ethiopia” Feb. 3, 2016.
  • Amy Kilbourne, PhD, of the University of Michigan, will present “Quality Enhancement Research Initiative” April 16, 2016.
