William Bottom studies social and psychological aspects of bargaining, negotiation and group decision making. His current work examines how emotional and relational factors influence the implementation of negotiated agreements. Having previously served as Senior Associate Dean and the Director of the PhD Program at the Olin School, Bottom is also studying the impact of social science on business education and global business practice. He has been awarded the John F. Mee Award for Distinguished Contribution to Management History, the Marcile and James Reid Chair, and research grants from the Russell Sage Foundation and the National Science Foundation. Bottom is actively engaged in consulting and executive education serving a range of clients in the areas of negotiation, team development, and organizational development. He currently serves on the editorial boards for: Negotiation and Conflict Management Research and the SSRN Journal on Negotiation and is an associate editor for Organizational Behavior and Human Decision.
