Aldrich to debut with ‘Music for Fall and Winter’ 

Nicole Aldrich will make her debut as director of both the Washington University Concert Choir and the new Washington University Chamber Choir in a free performance at 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, in Graham Chapel. “Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind: Music for Fall and Winter” will include works by Johann Kuhnau, Giovanni Gabrieli and Johannes Brahms, among others.

Picture this: Gingerbread Brookings

A gingerbread version of WUSTL’s iconic Brookings Hall was on display Nov. 30 in the Bear’s Den on the South 40. WUSTL Dining Services produced the traveling exhibit — on display at various locations around campus throughout the holidays — with more than 30 lbs. of gingerbread dough, 25 lbs. of icing and nearly 10 lbs. of candy.

Medical school receives $8 million grant to study asthma, allergies

Researchers at the School of Medicine, including Michael Holtzman, MD, have received an $8 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to study the role of the barrier functions of the skin, gut and airway in asthma and allergic diseases.

Picture this: A national look at Greek life

WUSTL students and administrators recently hosted representatives from 20 national fraternity/sorority offices, as well as student leaders from 13 Greek chapters across the country. The give-and-take was an opportunity to talk about issues in Greek life and ensure that the WUSTL Greek community continues to prosper.

The men’s basketball team upset No. 1 and unbeaten Augustana College, 71-68, to win the 28th Annual Lopata Classic Dec. 3. Senior Dylan Richter earned MVP honors with a career-high 27 points.
