Whittemore House to reopen for breakfast and lunch April 8

Open house scheduled for April 3 and 4

Washington University’s faculty and staff conference center, Whittemore House, will reopen April 8 following a three-month closure for major renovations and refurbishing.

In addition to upgraded décor and furnishings, the installation of audio/visual equipment has greatly enhanced Whittemore’s capabilities to host small conferences and business meetings. Also, beginning with the reopening, a new breakfast service will be offered Monday – Friday from 7-10 a.m. Lunch will continue to be available each day from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Whittemore’s chef, Ryan Luke, and general manager, Art Casolari, and their colleagues from Catering St. Louis have developed new menus reflecting an emphasis on freshness and locally sourced foods.

From 3-6 p.m. April 3 and 4, all WUSTL faculty and staff are invited to attend an open house to view the renovations and changes. Light refreshments will be served.

Membership in Whittemore House is available to all university faculty and staff members for a monthly membership fee of $6. With this membership, faculty and staff and their guests may use the club for a variety of purposes ranging from daily dining to participation in special monthly theme dinners, holiday events and other activities. Members also have the opportunity to rent all or parts of the club for their personal special events with reduced rental fees.

Originally constructed in 1912, Whittemore House was commissioned by Henry Haarstick for one of his two daughters. The Whittemore House opened its doors as a conference center in 1969 providing private meeting rooms, comfortable sitting rooms, an inviting veranda and a large dining room.
