Spotlight on Ghana

Video, events on campus highlight Global Diversity Overseas Program through this summer's trip to Ghana

The 2014 Global Diversity Overseas Seminar trip to Ghana, as told by university videographer Tom Malkowicz.

The Global Diversity Overseas Seminar Program (GDOS) is hosting a series of events this fall to highlight the program to the Washington University in St. Louis community, using the June 2014 trip to Ghana as a benchmark.

The video above, shot and produced by program participant Tom Malkowicz, video producer-editor in Public Affairs, tells the story of the Ghana trip. A series of displays have been in and around campus, beginning at Olin Library this September. The displays feature baskets (courtesy of the Blessing Baskets Project), fabrics and photos from Ghana.

The next display will be up from Oct. 7-31 near the Art & Architecture library in the Sam Fox School and also in the moveable wall display in Olin Library.

Events for the community begin at noon Tuesday, Oct. 7, with a one-hour Brown Bag Lunch presentation in Olin Library Room 142 that is open to the university community.

Other events:

  • Noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22: Brown Bag Lunch presentation, sponsored by the Student Services Professional Development committee.
  • 4-5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7: GDOS Photo Display Open House, Center for Diversity & Inclusion, 2nd Floor, Olin Library. Open to WU community.
