Three engineering faculty receive grants from the Air Force

Three faculty members in the School of Engineering & Applied Science at Washington University in St. Louis have received grants from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research’s Young Investigator Research Program.

ShiNung Ching, PhD, Brendan Juba, PhD, and Fuzhong Zhang, PhD, all assistant professors, were among 57 scientists selected to share $16.6 million in grants from more than 200 proposals.

In addition, Zhang also received a Young Investigator Award for synthetic biology research from the Human Frontier Science Program Organization.

He shares the three-year, $750,000 award with collaborator Diego Oyarzún, PhD, a junior research fellow in the Department of Mathematics at the Imperial College London.
