Sakiyama-Elbert

Shelly Sakiyama-Elbert, PhD, professor and associate chair of biomedical engineering in the School of Engineering & Applied Science at Washington University in St. Louis, recently graduated from Executive Leadership in Academic Technology and Engineering (ELATE) at Drexel University. The intensive, national professional development program is designed for women in academic science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.

The one-year ELATE program includes classroom and online curricula that provide fellows with the opportunity to bring increased leadership effectiveness, resource management and network development skills to their home campuses.

Sakiyama-Elbert’s lab at Washington University performs research on bioactive scaffolds for tissue engineering.
