Mail operations share space in new building

Some mail operations at Washington University’s Danforth Campus and the School of Medicine and at BJC HealthCare will share space beginning June 15 to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

These mail operations will be based at the new Environmental Health and Safety/Central Mail Services building on the Medical Campus, at 4523 Clayton Ave. All School of Medicine mail and receiving services now at the McDonnell Sciences Building and BJH/BJC Mail Services in the Taylor Avenue Building will move to the Environmental Health and Safety/Central Mail Services Building. In addition, mail metering services now at the Danforth Campus will move to the new building.

Other Danforth mail services, including the student mail centers at the Village House and Hitzeman Hall, the North Campus mail center and the West Campus satellite mail center, will remain in their current locations.

“This collaboration brings us closer to eliminating duplication of services,” said Melissa Hopkins, assistant vice chancellor and assistant dean of facilities at the School of Medicine. “We are very proud of our partners and staff efforts in bringing this partnership to fruition.”

Tours of the new mail operations, which will be open to all Danforth, School of Medicine and BJC employees, will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. May 21 and from 9 a.m. to noon May 22. An open house is scheduled for late June.
