$5 million funds research to develop drugs for common cold, respiratory diseases

A drug discovery program led by Michael Holtzman, MD, has received three grants totaling more than $5 million to develop new medical therapeutics for respiratory diseases. The target illnesses range from the common cold to life-threatening lung disease.

Dorothy Stoneman, founder and CEO of YouthBuild USA Inc., last week encouraged young people to transform themselves and their communities. The event was part of the 20th anniversary celebration for the Brown School’s Center for Social Development.

Vesalius symposium to be held this month

An interdisciplinary symposium to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the birth of Andreas Vesalius, founder of the study of modern human anatomy, will be Feb. 26-28. Register by Feb. 20 for the event, jointly sponsored by Washington University and Saint Louis University.
